Pass Plus Course

Pass Plus is a practical training course designed for newly qualified drivers who want to build confidence, develop real world experience, and continue improving after passing the driving test. It helps you become a safer, more capable driver by introducing situations that may not have been fully covered during your initial training.

The course is delivered by a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor and focuses on developing independent driving skills, better decision making, and safe driving in a wider range of environments.

​

You must already hold a full UK driving licence to take Pass Plus.

What is Pass Plus?

  • Pass Plus is a structured practical course that normally takes at least six hours to complete. It is not a test. Instead, your instructor will guide you through a series of modules designed to build your confidence and competence in real world driving situations.

​

  • At DTMK Driving School, training is delivered by a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor and Qualified Teacher with a background in emergency services driver education. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, helping you develop safe habits and long term confidence behind the wheel.

​

  • You can complete the course in our dual controlled training vehicle or your own car.

What does the course cover?

Pass Plus includes six key modules:

Town Driving

  • Further develop your ability to deal with busy urban environments, including complex junctions, vulnerable road users, and hazard awareness.

​​

All Weather Driving

  • Learn how to adjust your driving safely in rain, fog, ice, wind, and other challenging conditions.

​​

Rural Roads

  • Build confidence on country roads, including higher speeds, reduced visibility, bends, and limited passing places.

​

Night Driving

  • Gain experience driving in darkness, including the correct use of headlights, managing glare, and recognising hazards earlier.

​

Dual Carriageways

  • Improve your confidence joining, leaving, and safely driving on faster roads with multiple lanes.

​

Motorway Driving

  • Learn to drive safely on both traditional and smart motorways, including lane discipline, joining and leaving at speed, variable speed limits, and responding correctly to lane control signals such as Red X closures.

How does Pass Plus work?

There is no formal test at the end of the course. Instead, your instructor will assess your performance throughout the training and confirm when you have successfully met the required standard.

Training is flexible and can be arranged to suit your availability. Many drivers complete the course over one or two sessions.

​

The focus is on helping you become a more confident, capable, and independent driver in real world conditions.
