Learn to Drive, Learn CPR in Milton Keynes

Every learner who passes with DTMK receives a free Basic Life Support course at our Milton Keynes training centre.

We are proud to support the European Resuscitation Council’s Learn to Drive, Learn CPR initiative. This important campaign recognises that driving is about far more than passing a test. It is about being a responsible, confident driver who is prepared to respond if something goes wrong on the road.

At DTMK, this message closely reflects our own values. Alongside DTMK Driving School, we also operate DTMK Training Services, where we deliver regulated First Aid and Basic Life Support training. We see first hand how these skills give people the confidence to act in an emergency, and how early intervention can save lives.

To support this initiative, we offer all learners who pass their driving test with us the opportunity to attend a free Basic Life Support (BLS) course. This ensures that our drivers leave not only with a full driving licence, but with the knowledge and confidence to help others if they are ever first on scene at a road traffic collision or medical emergency.

This free course is delivered at our dedicated training centre in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

Why Learn CPR?

CPR, or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, is a life saving skill that gives you the ability to act when someone is unconscious and not breathing normally, most commonly during a cardiac arrest. In those first few minutes, the actions of the person nearby can make the greatest difference.

Emergency services will always come as quickly as they can, but they cannot be everywhere instantly. When CPR is started immediately, it helps maintain blood flow to the brain and vital organs, buying precious time until professional help arrives.

As a driver, you may one day find yourself first on scene at a road traffic collision or medical emergency. Knowing what to do removes hesitation and replaces it with calm, confident action. By learning CPR alongside your driving training, you are not only preparing to drive independently, but preparing to take responsibility and help others when it matters most.

What's Included?

  • Free Basic Life Support (BLS) course
Every learner who passes their driving test with us will be offered a full Basic Life Support course at no cost. This practical training focuses on CPR, how to help someone who is unconscious and not breathing normally, and how to recognise and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). These are essential skills that allow you to act quickly and effectively in a life threatening emergency.

  • Experienced clinical instructors
Training is delivered by highly experienced instructors from DTMK Training Services, with extensive backgrounds in clinical education and emergency care. They will guide you step by step, ensuring you understand what to do and feel confident in your ability to help if it is ever needed.

  • Recognised certification
You will receive recognised Basic Life Support certification following the course. The training follows current UK resuscitation guidelines and provides you with a valuable life saving skill that stays with you long after you have passed your driving test.

Why Are We Doing This?

At DTMK, our responsibility to our learners does not end when they pass their driving test. Learning to drive is about more than vehicle control. It is about awareness, responsibility, and being prepared for the realities of the road. We want every learner to leave us not only as a safe and confident driver, but as someone who is capable of helping others if they are ever first on scene at an emergency.

Through our work at DTMK Training Services, we see the real difference that early action can make. In many emergencies, the first person to help is not a clinician. It is an ordinary member of the public. By giving our learners the opportunity to develop these skills, we are helping to build a community of drivers who are prepared, capable, and willing to act.

Supporting the European Resuscitation Council’s Learn to Drive, Learn CPR campaign reflects our belief that driver education and life saving skills belong together. It is part of our commitment to go beyond the minimum standard, and to equip our learners with skills that truly matter.
